03 — About
Poker chips, and a few things that go with them. Each one is printed in PLA, a plant-based thermoplastic, on a Bambu Lab P2S.
Colour sits in the chip as inlay. The face carries 0.4 mm of inlaid colour, two print layers. The rim can carry its own pattern, 0.6 to 1.5 mm deep.
A chip can hold a core: a metal disc set into a pocket in the middle. It brings a printed chip from about 5 g to about 10.3 g, or 11.5 g with the heavy core.
A design can have hundreds of chips in several values and up to three colours each. Printing them in advance would be guessing. So we print after you order.
That is also why there is a designer and not a catalogue. You see the chip in 3D before you pay, and the printability check tells you if the printer cannot make it.
These are 3D-printed chips. The rim shows 0.2 mm layer lines. Diameter and thickness hold to ±0.3 mm. The material softens above about 50 °C.
They are not casino chips and we do not pretend they are. They are made for a kitchen table, one set at a time.
The full numbers are on the specs page. The process, step by step, is on the how it's made page.
